Apply For Auto Insurance Today!Auto insurance can change depending on your policy. The more coverage you have the higher your payment will be. There are six main coverages you can get when you shop around for an auto insurance policy. The less you get the less expensive your policy will cost but the less coverage you will have. The six main coverages are:

  • Collision- Collision is the most common coverage one can get. It will cover any damage done to your car in a collision. This includes any collision so it does not matter who is at fault.
  • Property Damage- This will cover you in case you happen to run your car into someone else's property and damage it. It is rare, but a good coverage to have just in case.
  • Bodily Injury- This coverage will cover any injury that you receive in a car accident. It will cover your medical costs as well as your family's medical cost, or anyone who was driving the car with your permission.
  • Personal Injury Protection- Sometimes you can get into an accident, have all your medical bills paid for but while recovering from your injuries you are unable to work. If you are unable to work and lose money, personal injury protection will compensate you for lost wages. It can also cover funeral costs.
  • Comprehensive- Comprehensive coverage covers your car from anything that is not collision related. This includes natural disaster, fire, theft and vandalism.
  • Uninsured Coverage- If you get hit by someone who is uninsured it can lead to a lot of problems. Uninsured coverage can cover you in case of that situation as well as cover you for any damages caused in a hit or run accident.

When you figure out your policy you will have two more important choices to make regarding your premium and deductible. Your premium is your monthly payment and your deductible is the amount you cover up to for any damages. If your deductible is $500, then you would pay up to $500 in damages. If the total damages are $3,000 then you would pay $500 and the insurance company would pay the extra $2,500. The higher your deductible the lower your premium will be. If you think you won't get into many accidents then it makes sense to raise your deductible and save on those monthly payments.
